AMEI specializes in the field of water intrusion investigations; bacteria, mold and fungi identification, investigation, characterization; remediation project management; and Phase I & II site assessments.  We provide these services for commercial, industrial and residential properties. We utilize only NVLAP-AIHA accredited laboratories for the analysis of mold, fungi and bacterial bulk, surface, and air samples. 
Incorporated in January of 1995, American Metropolitan Environmental, Inc. provides the following services:

Steve  Moreland, CIEC*, is the Senior Vice-President of American Metropolitan Environmental, Inc., possessing over 20 years of public and private sector experience in environmental consulting/inspection experience, encompassing a wide field of contaminants and hazards [i.e. asbestos, radon, bioaerosols (fungi & bacteria), and VOC's].
Prior to launching AMEI in 1995, Steve was employed by USD 259 - Wichita Public Schools, Environmental Services Department (1987 - 1995), as one of the first asbestos inspectors in the State of Kansas.  At the inception of the department, their primary assignment was to perform an inspection and produce an asbestos management plan for each district building.  Eventually, the department became responsible for all environmental concerns for the district, including hazardous waste, underground and aboveground storage tanks, and blood borne pathogens.
In a July 27, 2002 article, the Wichita Eagle newspaper dubbed Steve the "mold hunter".  He maintains numerous certifications that encompass several environmental disciplines, is a graduate of Butler County Community College, El Dorado, Kansas, with an Associate of Science degree, and was awarded the "Color of the Purple Award for Academic Excellence".


David Moreland, CIEC*, is an environmental inspector employed with American Metropolitan Environmental, Inc. since January 2003.  David graduated from Butler County Community College, El Dorado, KS, with an Associates degree in Science.

Marlene Bishop, CIE, is an environmental inspector employed with AMEI since August 2008.  Marlene graduated from Evangel University, Springfield, MO, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology degree.


AMEI is a member of the Indoor Air Quality Association, American Industrial Hygiene Association, National Environmental Health Association, and the Better Business Bureau.
